In 1986, after ten years of depression, rage and self-loathing, Byron Katie ‘woke up to reality’. She literally woke up one morning in a state of profound joy, with the realization that all of her suffering was created by believing her stressful thoughts. When she questioned these thoughts, her suffering dissolved. With this realization, The Work was born, enabling her to remain in her new-found state of peace and joy.
Byron Katie refers to The Work as ‘the great undoing’. The Work is not a belief system. It’s simply a tool that allows you to identify and step out of the beliefs you’ve outgrown. The Work also allows you to meet and accept your shadow self, and is a powerful path to wholeness.
