Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT (also known as Tapping) is an energy medicine tool that uses gentle tapping with the fingertips on a sequence of acupuncture points on the face and torso. It facilitates the easy release of unresolved emotions and unwanted thought patterns.
Tapping combines the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine with modern psychology. During Tapping, your mind rapidly processes and reframes the experience you’re focused on. Stimulation of the points restores energy flow along the meridians (energy pathways), unblocking and rebalancing your energy system, and leaving you in a more peaceful, expanded state.
“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”
~ Gary Craig, founder of EFT
This gentle process is highly effective in dissolving negative emotions. Anxiety, fear, stress, anger, resentment, hurt, frustration, sadness, grief, guilt, shame, jealousy, embarrassment etc., can rapidly melt away, with the correct use of Tapping.
When uncomfortable emotions are ignored or suppressed, they remain in the body, causing disruptions in the energy system. EFT dissolves these energy disruptions , preventing their potential physical manifestation.
EFT can also clear physical symptoms that have emotional/psychological roots. Headaches, migraines, back pain, stomach aches and a whole host of other symptoms have all responded very well to Tapping.
EFT is also effective for releasing unwanted thought patterns, and replacing them with new, supportive ones. The process brings greater awareness to your self-talk, allowing you to develop a more conscious, loving relationship with yourself.
Tapping was introduced to the world by Gary Craig, in 1995. Gary simplified a complex body of knowledge he had learned from psychotherapist Dr Roger Callahan, making the Tapping process easy for the general public to learn and use. Gary’s phrase “Try it on anything!” is a frequently quoted one.
